2/4/2021
As you continue to use and learn about our Office365 transition there are some useful How To Documents to assist you. Please refer to them in the box to the right.
1/3/2021
- All user email accounts are migrated over to Office365. Please log in to www.outlook.com.
- The former www.barrypricecenter.org/owa Outlook Web App no longer receives email. It will be in place for another week or more to allow you to locate email messages that possibly were not migrated to Office365. There is a note on the login screen to redirect your login.
- Functional accounts are also migrated over to Office365. Please contact ithelp@thepricecenter.org if you need access to a particular functional email account.
- Desktop Outlook users can now connect Outlook Desktop to your Office365 email. On the main screen, go to FILE – Accounts and create a new account using your existing Price Center email address and the new Smi-1234 password (substituting your info as described below). The system will automatically find your account and then give you another Microsoft login. Enter your password again on that screen. Once allowed, close, and then reopen Outlook Desktop and you will see the account added in your folder list on the left. Expand that new folder to see the Inbox and other folders.
- Please note that your login password for your computer is unchanged. But, you have a new login password for your Office365 email.
- If you have any issues please email ithelp@thepricecenter.org
12/22/2020 All users are informed of migration and invited to log in. Instructions are emailed. How To Login Into Price Center Office365 Email
12/18/2020 Migrations of all user email boxes are nearly done and all staff can log in to Office365 via www.outlook.com . There are a small hand full of staff whose existing email is still being migrated so they may not be able to see all of their old email. Outlook Desktop users should use www.outlook.com until your desktop client can be configured by IT staff.
12/17/2020 Migrations to Office365 have begun and groups of individuals will be contacted when they can log in to Office365 to start using their email. Your email will be on both platforms for several days after which you will only be able to log in to Office365 for your email. When you have been notified, please begin using Office365 rather than Outlook Web Access. Outlook Desktop users should use www.outlook.com until your desktop client can be configured by IT staff.
11/27/2020 Migrations to Office365 originally scheduled for the Thanksgiving weekend had to be postponed due to a technical issue.
The Price Center Office 365 transition
Revision December 22, 2020
Our email has moved to Office 365!
Please reply to this email to confirm that you received it.
The Price Center is transitioning our email and file storage to the Microsoft 365 Cloud. The first and most obvious piece of the transition will be the transfer of all Price Center email accounts. File storage transfer will be done at a later time.
You can now log in to www.outlook.com to read and send email. We encourage you to do so starting now.
By Monday 12/28/2020 10am all employees must be using Office365 as we will disconnect from our local server at that time.
Please read the information below for more important details.
Moving to Office365 will be more reliable for The Price Center into the future. Outages like those we have had last in the last weeks are much less likely while using the Microsoft 365 service.
We have created this FAQ to communicate the details and answer any questions. We will post this document and other information under our website at:
www.thepricecenter.org/office365
- When will the transition occur?
- The transition is in progress and will be completed by December 28th . All user accounts have been transitioned and email migrated to Office365.
- Please log in to www.outlook.com to begin using your email. For those who use Outlook Desktop, your old email will continue to work but it will be out of sync with Office 365 so please begin using www.outlook.com now.
- Who do I contact if I have questions?
- For questions and issues please email ithelp@thepricecenter.org If you have difficulty sending from your Price Center email then you can also send to us from your personal email account. If you have difficulty reaching ithelp and need to contact us, please email thepricecenter@primekeymgt.com We are actively managing those accounts for your assistance.
- How will the transition affect me as a user?
- During the transition period you will be able to use your Price Center email but any use of your email may result in lost and undelivered messages. CC yourself on all emails you send from the old / current email system. If you are sending emails from Office365 to a Price Center employee who has not yet transitioned to Office365, then they may not get your email. Please encourage them to use their Office365 account.
- During the transition period, emails you send on the old system will not be reflected in your new SENT folder in the new system. So use the new Office365 email system. If you must use the old system, then cc yourself on any emails that you send.
- During the transition, calendar appointments you make on the old system will not be reflected in the new system. So use the new Office365 calendar.
- During the transition, Contacts you add on the old system will not be reflected in the new system So use the new Office365 People contact list.
- During the transition, your existing Outlook desktop application will no longer connect with your email and will give a connection error. Please use the new Office365 email system instead.
- Starting now, you can log in to your Office365 email differently by going to your browser and entering www.Outlook.com or www.office365.com to login
- After the transition, continue to access your remote desktops (NetExtender, Splashtop) and shared storage as you had been before the transition.
- What do I need to do in preparation for the transition?
- Just in case, for any time-critical email communication anticipated during the transition period, please notify the sender and provide the sender with an alternate email that is not in the domains <anything>@thepricecenter.org or <anything>@barrypricecenter.org
- Anticipate that there will be some issues to resolve in the days after the transition.
- Will my email password be different?
- Yes, for security reasons we are not able to retain your existing email passwords.
- Your new password will be 8 digits comprised of:
- First three letters of your Last Name correctly capitalized
Examples: Smi for Smith, OBr for O’Brien, etc
-
-
- The hyphen or dash character “-“
-
-
-
- The last four numbers of your social security number
- So your password will look like: Smi-1234 or OBr-5678
- For now, please do not change your existing password on the old system or the new password issued for Office365. After the transition has completed in January please feel free to change your Office365 password. However, you are not required to do so.
- We are not changing your desktop login password. Please continue to use your existing desktop login password as well as the new Outlook.com password for email.
- Since this would be the first time that your Microsoft account is logged in to, I have found that now and then it takes a couple/three tries to log in and it looks like the computer is just spinning. So you have to abandon the login (by entering www.outlook.com again) and try again.
- For group and shared email accounts, please contact ithelp@thepricecenter.org for login information.
-
- What will I see when I come back to work on Monday December 28th ?
- On Monday, December 28th everything will look the same. However, remote and on premise users will now log in to their email via www.outlook.com
- Users who have been using the desktop version of Outlook should contact ithelp@thepricecenter.org and let us know so we can schedule a time to configure your desktop client should you want to continue using it. Please use www.outlook.com until your Outlook Desktop application is configured for you. Your existing Outlook desktop application will no longer connect with your email and will give a connection error. After we configure your system for you, your desktop Outlook client will have the same emails and folders as the outlook.com so it is your choice to continue using it. However, the newest Microsoft features going forward will primarily be available only through the Outlook.com browser version.
- You will still be able to log in to the old Outlook Web App (https://webmail.barrypricecenter.org/owa/ ) to view old emails but the old interface will not receive nor send new emails. We will make a future announcement as to when viewing old emails will no longer be possible and anticipate it will be soon after the New Year.
- NetExtender and SplashTop and SharePoint remote connections as well as directly logging in to your desktop will be unchanged.
- What will be different when I log in to my email?
- Your new email will look different, better, cleaner, more open and modern. While you can search this on the internet, here is one description of the new look: https://bigtechquestion.com/2018/12/10/software/microsoft-office/what-does-the-new-outlook-look-like/
- You will find some familiar features and new locations for some common options but the changes are mostly apparent.
- What if I need personal assistance or run into an issue?
-
- Please practice patience; things will be new for all of us.
- Please contact us at ithelp@thepricecenter.org and let us know. We will get back to you as quickly as we can.
- Please investigate some solutions on your own and don’t be afraid to try some features that may not be familiar.
- How will I know when the transition is completed?
- You are currently able to send and receive emails freely via www.outlook.com The transition will be fully completed when all of your old email is visible within Outlook.com and the old Outlook Web Access email system is no longer available. We expect that to be shortly after the New Year.
- We will send out another communication in the days after the transition requesting if any users still have issues that need to be addressed. Please contact ithelp@thepricecenter.org with questions.
- How can I get more information about Office365?
- Using Outlook.com should be pretty comfortable and familiar to most.
- There are a number of online references about Office365 (rebranded as Microsoft 365) that inform about current features of Microsoft365 that will be available to us after the transition. For a general introduction you can start with:

- There are also online video resources.
- HR will assess the need for additional training on current features and provide training guidance. As we roll out additional future features additional training will be necessary either in-house or third-party.
We look forward to this technology transition as it will enable additional capabilities in our future as well as help us maintain a more reliable and secure system.
Thank you for your patience!
